Mahalia:"Mardy Bum van Arctic Monkeys is het eerste liedje waar ik van hield"

Mahalia is 21 jaar oud en heeft nu al een album, drie EP's en een BBC Sound Of 2019-notering achter haar naam staan. Ze is te gast in Sanders Vriendenteam en vertelt het een en ander over haar favoriete liedje van de Monkeys en haar eigen muziek!

Psycho-acoustic soul

Mahalia Burkmar komt uit Engeland en ontdekte haar muzikale gen al vroeg. Ze begon met liedjes schrijven op haar achtste toen ze een enorme crush had op iemand en is er eigenlijk nooit meer mee gestopt. Ze noemt haar muziek 'psycho-acoustic soul', dus Sander vraagt haar natuurlijk effe wat dat precies inhoudt.

Mahalia: "The psycho part is there because I always have a weird way of talking about things. When I started most of my music had this acoustic, homegrown, clear sound that I didn't want to lose, so thats where the 'acoustic' comes from... And I think I'm quite soulful!"
