Vierde album Gotye minder experimenteel

De zanger vertelt ook dat hij het liefst met zijn idool Kate Bush zou willen samenwerken.

Wouter De Backer, beter bekend als Gotye, praatte met NME over de opvolger van zijn succesvolle derde album Making Morrors uit 2011. Hij kon alvast vertellen dat het nieuwe album een stuk traditioneler wordt en dat hij meer met andere mensen gaat samenwerken.

"I can't put a timeline on it. But I do know that I'd like to do a more traditional record, focusing more on chords and harmonies and things like that. I'd like to collaborate more with people and make more use of my band, rather than just me working on my own."

Een van de mensen waar hij graag mee wil samenwerken is zijn idool Kate Bush.

"I go to say idols of mine like Kate Bush, she's amazing. But then again, when you'd idolised someone like that over the years, it's hard to meet them and treat them like a regular person."

Gotye heeft veel nog niet uitgewerkte ideeën en demo's over van zijn laatste album, maar het kan toch nog wel even duren voor album nummer vier uitkomt. Misschien nog wel jaren, zei de zanger.

"I work in stages, I usually need to withdraw for a while and experiment with things before my better ideas start floating to the top. I have a lot of unfinished things and demos from the last record, but I usually like to start afresh when I make a new record, so going by my previous track record, a couple of years wouldn't be out of the question."
