Geen twee tracks op het nieuwe album I’m With You zijn hetzelfde, zegt bassist Flea.
De band had 70 tracks om uit te kiezen bij het samenstellen van hun nog te verschijnen album I’m With You. Eind augustus komt het uit en de eerste single ervan ‘The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie’ is sinds afgelopen weekend te horen op de radio.

Uit de 70 tracks die de band schreef, hebben ze niet simpelweg de beste gekozen, zegt bassist Flea tegen de BBC. Het belangrijkste uitgangspunt bij het samenstellen van de uiteindelijke tracklist was dat geen twee tracks op het album hetzelfde zouden zijn, aldus Flea.
Flea: “What was important to us when we put the record together was to make sure that each song filled its own space and was not like another song on the record. We wrote 70 songs, so it's not even necessarily all the best ones that we put on, but just the ones that occupy their own space.”
‘The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie’
Flea zegt dan ook dat de eerste single ‘The Adventures of Rain Dance Maggie’ geen voorproefje is van het complete album. Hij vindt het een geweldige track. “It’s a cool, simple, funky, little jam.” Maar “it's completely different, there's nothing else on the record that sounds anything like it. It's a tricky one because all of the songs on the record are so different."
