Keane vindt muziek in de hitlijsten bedroevend

'De huidige hitlijsten staan vol met verschrikkelijke Europop en sh*t R&B', aldus Keane-frontman Tom Chaplin.

Hoewel ze het zelf goed doen in de lijsten (ze zouden komend weekend in thuisland UK wel eens op 1 kunnen binnenkomen met hun nieuwe album Strangeland), zijn de mannen van Keane alles behalve te spreken over de muziek in de Britse charts.

'The charts are in a sorry state'

Frontman Tom Chaplin vertelde The Daily Star: “The charts are in a sorry state. It’s all just noise to me. "I put on MTV occasionally and it's just a racket. It bores me."

Volgens Tom domineert op dit moment muziek die in de nineties al niet om aan te horen was. “Fake pop has taken over, terrible Europop and sh*t R&B that makes me think: ‘What’s going on? Didn’t this rubbish sound tired in the Nineties, let alone now?'”

Keane-frontman Tom ook positief

Tom vindt wel dat er heel veel goede muziek is, maar die dringt niet door tot de Top 40. "There’s loads of great stuff out there now which hasn’t a hope of making the Top 40. There’s an exciting world underneath the charts but the Top 40 is so disappointing these days.”
