Plannen voor Guns N' Roses biopic

Ex-Guns-Drummer Matt Sorum heeft vergevorderde plannen voor een speelfilm over de band waar hij zeven jaar lang deel van uitmaakte.

Volgens website Blabbermouth heeft Sorum zijn plannen aan VH1 onthuld. Matt vertelde de tv zender "I've talked about doing a screenplay, and that's actually something that I'm in talks about with a couple of pretty big people."

'rock and roll movies, they've never been done right'

De drummer heeft een duidelijke mening over rockfilms. "If you look at rock and roll movies, they've never been done right." Eigenlijk vindt hij er maar twee goed, en dat is de film over het leven van Johnny Cash en de film over The Doors.

Films zoals Rock Star vindt hij helemaal niks. "If you look at any of those other kind of traditional rock flicks like Mark Wahlberg and 'Rock Star' and all those, they're all kind of dumb, like '80s, butt-rock, Sunset Strip."

Guns N' Roses anders dan andere rockbands

Sorum vertelt ook dat een film over Guns N' Roses te moeite waard is, omdat de band anders was dan alle andere rockbands. "If there was a film about Guns N' Roses, the thing about Guns N' Roses that was different than all the butt rock bands in Hollywood was that it was down and dirty and punk rock and real."

Matt Sorum verving in 1990 Guns N' Roses-drummer Steven Adler. Hij drumde zeven jaar bij de band, tot hij in 1997 door frontman Axl Rose ontslagen werd. Frontman Axl Rose is nog het enige originele bandlid van Guns N' Roses anno nu.
