Birdman won zondag 22 februari de Oscar voor Beste Film. Nederland greep net naast het beeldje in de categorie Beste Korte Animatie.
Giel belde maandagmorgen 23 februari met Job Roggeveen van Happy Camper. Hij maakte met animatiestudio Job, Joris en Marieke de korte animatiefilm Single Life. Helaas grepen ze naast de Oscar, maar dat mocht de pret voor het trio niet drukken.
Giel belde vrijdag 20 februari ook al met Job die toen ook al in z'n nopjes was in Los Angeles.
