Arlo Parks stal de show tijdens ESNS en was bezig met een tour door Europa, die ze helaas genoodzaakt was te verplaatsen vanwege het coronavirus. 3FM-dj Vera Siemons sprak met haar o.a. over deze tour en haar debuutalbum.
First headline tour
Het is Arlo Parks haar eerste headline tour. Ze tourde van Berlijn naar Brussel en door naar Amsterdam. Arlo: "It’s a busy time. It’s my first headlining tour. It’s been really overwhelming but amazing. We get to talk to so many people in the cities we’ve been to. Tonight I’m playing in Amsterdam and it’s one of my favorite cities in the world. It feels really special."
Haar tour is dan voorlopig verplaatst naar data later in het jaar, Arlo heeft wel bepaalde verwachtingen van deze tour. "I feel like I went into the tour with a few expectations. I went in excited to have my own space: it is my show. I have done a few support slots, but to have everyone there to be there for me, feels like a big family."
Rolmodel
'Eugene', de prachtige hit van Arlo, is een persoonlijk en emotioneel verhaal. Of het makkelijk is voor haar om zich kwetsbaar op te stellen? " I have been writing for quite some time now and it’s kind of a personal thing. It’s kind of therapie for me. Automatically when something happened or I feel like some kind of way, I’ll just put it on paper."

Vera vraagt of ze zich ook bewust is van het feit dat ze door haar teksten en verhalen een rolmodel is voor fans en luisteraars. "I’m definitely aware of that and I guess when I think about younger people listening to my music, who maybe didn’t have anyone else to look up to, that reminded them of themselves. That’s really special."
2020
Arlo is dus officieel begonnen met haar Europese tour, die ze hopelijk snel kan voortzetten. Maar hoe ziet de rest van haar jaar er uit? "The goal right now is to finish the debut album. That’s really my focus at the moment. Definitely a few festivals I like to play in the future. But at the moment I’m just going where the wind takes me."
Of de drukte van de tour in de weg zit van het schrijven van het album? Nee hoor, juist niet. "I think I write best when I’m busy. In the tour van I’ll be always writing poetry, writing ideas, making beats. It’s about finding time and finding space. Sometimes we’re driving for 7 hours, so there is a lot of time to write and be creative."
